911 Remembrance Service
Join us at Washington Memorial Chapel in Valley Forge on Thursday, September 11th at 6:30 p.m. as we gather to honor the nearly 3,000 lives lost in the September 11th attacks on New York City, Washington, D.C., and aboard Flight 93 in Shanksville, Pennsylvania.
The service will begin in the chapel and proceed to the grave of Louis J. Nacke II, our local hero who courageously gave his life aboard Flight 93. As part of the ceremony, bells will toll six times—marking the moments when each plane crashed and when the Twin Towers fell. Prayers will be offered for first responders and for all whose lives were forever changed on that day.
Patriot Day 9/11 is a National Day of Remembrance, honoring the extraordinary acts of courage shown by ordinary Americans. Firefighters and police officers ran toward danger. EMTs, construction workers, and strangers cared for the wounded. Passengers and crew members made the ultimate sacrifice to prevent further tragedy. And countless others answered the call to serve in our Armed Forces, defending our freedom and democracy.
Let us come together in unity, patriotism, and service—values that carried our nation through its darkest hours.
A reception will follow in the Bishop White Library and Garden. This event is free and open to all; however, registration is appreciated.
