World War II hero
1895 – Born Philadelphia
1917-1918 – WWI
1944 – LTC commanding officer 107 FA BN as Lieutenant Colonel 17 December Battle of the Bulge – one of his batteries (six guns?) encircled by Germans. Led an attack to relieve it. Attack resulted in 150 Germans killed and 40 captured.
Won the Distinguished Service Cross for the action. Also received Silver Star, Bronze Star and Purple Heart. His story is recounted in The Bloody Patch by James Colbaugh.
Remained in the Pennsylvania National Guard after the war, rising to rank of Brigadier General
Location: Heading west (toward Defenders Gate) from the Cabin Shop parking lot drive along the upper churchyard road, the Rosborough gravesite is about 50 feet in and obvious.
