tour Washington Memorial Chapel
Welcome to the Washington Memorial Chapel, a breathtaking symbol of our nation and a "must-see" treasure in Valley Forge. Our dedicated docents love sharing the rich history of WMC, offering inspiring individual and group tours that highlight the intricate stained-glass windows (tracing America’s story), the Roof of the Republic, and the beautiful artistry of Edward Maene, Nicola D’Ascenzo, and Samuel Yellin (among others).
As you explore, you will discover fascinating treasures, including one of the few statues of a seated George Washington and an original handle from his coffin!
Plan Your Visit:
To ensure a meaningful experience, tours must be scheduled at least three weeks in advance. Please note that only official Washington Memorial Chapel docents are authorized to lead tours of the Chapel and its 45-acre campus. We look forward to welcoming you soon!
While being in the heart of Valley Forge National Historical Park, Washington Memorial Chapel and its 45 acre campus is privately owned and managed.
Our Docent Ministry:
Our docents are volunteers who are both members and friends of the Chapel. They are a vital part of our ministry here at WMC as we receive tens of thousands of guests each year to see our beautiful building and campus. We are also always looking to add to our team of docents. If you are passionate about history and/or architecture and would like to become a docent, let us know. To join the docent team, please contact our head docent.
